Golf Physical Therapy

Our Golf PT program is a designed with you in mind, specifically around goals set that will help improve your own personal golf game. While we do understand and believe in the benefits of traditional PT to improve general function and mobility, we know that a targeted approach is required to achieve long lasting desired results. To design a program specific to each individual we start with an examination of the entire body, we are looking for any pain or tenderness, spinal & joint mobility, strength, functional movements and flexibility. Following the exam we dive into the current status of your golf game, what is your practice/play schedule, do you have a handicap, do you know your club head speed, ball speed, common issues you notice, etc. Gathering all of this information allows us to form a plan of attack that will specifically improve your golf game by reducing pain and increasing mobility, essentially helping you play better. We love solving complex musculoskeletal problems, but we are best at solving those problems with your desired goals in mind.

Golf Performance

The golf swing is a unique blend of timing, rhythm, power, speed, and mobility. With this in mind, Golf Performance Program was created, giving recreational and competitive golfers an advantage over their competition. The goal of our Performance Program is to improve specific targets such as hip mobility, club head speed, core strength, balance and much more. Many of our Golf PT clients graduate to our Golf Performance Program in an effort to take their game to the next level while continuing to improve overall strength and mobility. Our Golf Performance Program is offered in person at VIP PT or virtually as schedules dictate. These appointments will allow our TPI instructors the opportunity to track progress ensure goals are achieved

Strength and Speed Performance

Bring the INTENSITY! Add Distance, Generate More Club Head Speed, Increase Overall Strength. This program puts our bodies to work, our bodies will only go as fast as our internal governor allows. Increasing strength increases overall force production, force production increases speed. To control the increase in speed we will use speed trainers, medicine balls, and plyometrics to ingrain a repetitive motion of these quick but stable movement patterns. 3-5 days per week following a routine of 2 dedicated days intense strength training, 3 days of speed training with THE STACK, SuperSpeed, and max intent swings. 

Golf Mobility

This program is not your average flexibility/stretching program. This program is designed for you to OWN your mobility on the golf course and in life. This 8 week program will help you understand how your body moves, learn your restrictions, and improve your ability to experience the coil at the top of a deeper turn. These are 30-45 min long sessions 4x/week structured to get a little harder as you get better. This program focuses on thoracic spine, shoulder turn, ankle, and hip mobility to put yourself in better positions to be a better ball striker.

TPI Movement Screening

TPI’s physical assessment screen is utilized to identify limitations in the body that may be affecting the player’s golf swing. This sixteen-part screen is simple, quick and the foundation of information gathered to improve your golf game through movement . The TPI physical screen is the fundamental concept that changed the course of the golf fitness industry and what it means to be fit to play golf. We use this screen at the initial evaluation and monthly when enrolled in our golf performance program.

Golf Injuries

Injuries happen in golf just any other sport that require rehabilitation and a strategic plan to return to the course. We have identified some risk factors associated with injuries in golf including but not limited to, poor movement patterns, poor shoulder turn, being overweight, early extension, over the top, and reverse spine angle, lack of strength/stability and limited hip mobility. Lead side injuries are more prominent for golfers because of the amount of rotational force being transferred to lead side.
